Volkswagen unveiled a new model yesterday, its fourth SUV and the new entry-level option for buyers looking for a German-engineered SUV with plenty of performance and features. Going on sale in Summer 2021 in three versions (Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline), the new 2022 Volkswagen Taos has so much to offer.
Smaller than the Tiguan but still considered a compact SUV, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos will offer 795 litres of cargo space with all seats in place and just 45 litres less passenger volume than the Tiguan.
It will feature a powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque paired to a standard dual-clutch 7-speed automatic gearbox. The Taos will come standard with front-wheel drive, but 4Motion all-wheel drive is available.
It will also come standard with a fully digital instrument cluster alongside plenty of other standard and available features. These include dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
A full suite of IQ.Drive safety technologies will also be offered including Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking (Front Assist), Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop and Go feature. High Beam Control (Light Assist), the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), and Park Distance Control.
“Taos joins our lineup at an ideal time,” said Pierre Boutin, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group Canada. “Taos offers Canadians all the style, technology, and drivability that Volkswagen is known for at a more affordable price than our popular Tiguan.”
