It has a lot more power
Powering the new 2022 Volkswagen Golf R is an improved 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that now delivers 315 horsepower along with 310 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with a new six-speed manual gearbox which is great news for purists. There’s also a new dual-clutch automatic gearbox that offers quicker shifts.
