The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI delivers 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, an improvement of 13 horsepower over the last GTI. The Golf R gets 315 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque with the dual-clutch DSG gearbox, and 280 pound-feet of torque with the six-speed manual. The Golf R gets to 100 km/h in under 5.0 seconds.
The Golf GTI and Golf R feature a new Vehicle Dynamics Manager system which improves handling while the GTI gets a torque-sensing limited slip differential to improve power delivery. The Volkswagen Golf R gets a new rear axle torque-vectoring system that can send up to 100% of the available torque to the rear wheels and in the process create a “drift” mode.
