2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs. 2021 Honda Passport: Top Value and Features

2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs. 2021 Honda Passport: Top Value and Features

One of the best-kept secrets in crossover value is the Atlas Cross Sport. It features two powertrains that offer turbo and naturally aspirated power, all-wheel drive, modern styling, and German engineering inside and out. The Cross Sport is also competitively priced compared to many others in its class. With one of the best warranties in the industry, this SUV offers great value.

Here, we compare the Atlas Cross Sport to the 2021 Honda Passport.

The 2021 Atlas Cross Sport is a fantastic value

It doesn't take long to discover that the Atlas Cross Sport has a much better entry price point than the Honda Passport. The Cross Sport's entry grade, the Trendline, has a starting MSRP of $38,995. This is several thousand dollars below the MSRP of the Passport's entry level model. The Cross Sport's next grade up, the Comfortline, has a starting MSRP that's still below the Passport's entry price.

The Atlas Cross Sport is also supported with one the industry's longest warranties—4 years, 80,000 km. The Passport only offers a 3-year, 60,000 km warranty. Overall, the Atlas Cross Sport offers a better price, value, and warranty than the Honda Passport.

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport has more powertrains

Buyers have the option of two powertrains in the Cross Sport lineup. If you want turbo power, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder is available in all models except the Execline. It outputs 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. All models except the Trendline also offer a smooth, 3.6-litre six-cylinder that produces 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.

When considering the Passport, buyers are limited to one engine choice. The 3.5-litre six-cylinder has a very similar output compared to the Atlas Cross Sport's six-cylinder. However, the Passport does not offer any other powertrains.

Every Atlas Cross Sport has standard AWD, an eight-speed automatic transmission, generous driver assistance systems, and many more features. The vehicle also features more front and rear legroom than its competitor.

The Atlas Cross Sport with the R-Line package is specially equipped with brushed stainless steel pedals in aluminum look, leather-wrapped multifunction heated steering wheel, 21” Braselton wheels, uniquely designed bumper and grille, and exclusive R-Line badging. You won’t find anything like this with the Passport.
