2020 Volkswagen Tiguan vs. 2020 Acura RDX: Value That is Hard to Ignore

2020 Volkswagen Tiguan vs. 2020 Acura RDX: Value That is Hard to Ignore

The Tiguan has grown in popularity because of its superb design, equipment that is suited for Canadian driving, and value that seems to grow exponentially. Available in four models, the Tiguan's practical approach continues to charm buyers, even luxury brand lovers. Here, we compare the Tiguan to the 2020 Acura RDX.

Let's talk value about the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan four-vehicle model lineup starts with the well-equipped Trendline. With an MSRP of $29,770, it's reasonably priced. The top-of-the-line model, the Highline, comes in with an MSRP of $40,395 and is loaded with full interior, exterior, and safety features. It's also priced well below the RDX's starting MSRP of right around $46,000. It's tough to pass up an obvious value like the Tiguan.

It would take us quite a long time to list the equipment you can have with the Tiguan, but have to pay so much more for similar features on an RDX. For many, considering the Acura just doesn't make sense at this point.

The 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan adapts better to Canada's roads

This is a big claim to make against the RDX, but you have more control over how the Tiguan operates in different driving situations. Available driving modes include three on-road choices and two off-road options with the ability to customize. Sport, Eco, and Comfort adjust the Tiguan's handling and other functions to accommodate those modes and provide the ride of your choice.

When you want to go off the beaten path, Off-Road Mode and Off-Road Custom prepare the Tiguan for new grades and terrain. The Custom option allows you to adjust individual components such as throttle, steering and transmission.

The RDX only carries four modes, and none of them offer the extensive customization offered by the Tiguan.

When versatility is important, the Tiguan also delivers. Behind the rear seats, it has up to 1,065 litres cargo volume, which is 230 litres more than the RDX. Cargo is important, but passengers are even more. This extra space also allows the Tiguan to offer third row seating. This equipment is not offered in the RDX lineup.
