2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs. 2020 Honda Passport

2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs. 2020 Honda Passport

Canada is quickly becoming familiar with the new mid-size Atlas Cross Sport. Its modern styling, engine options, handling and more create a driving experience you and your family will enjoy. Volkswagen offers an additional peace of mind with an outstanding warranty. It is also important to compare this new SUV to established competitors in its class to help illustrate the excitement around the Atlas Cross Sport. Here, we compare it to the 2020 Honda Passport.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport has a better warranty

A new SUV is an investment, and any new model should have the backing of its manufacturer. Volkswagen includes a four-year / 80,000 km (whichever comes first) new-vehicle limited warranty on each model. The Passport’s warranty doesn’t go that far at just three years / 60,000 km. The Passport is a relatively new model itself, too.

When you take the Atlas Cross Sport for a test drive, you will feel a difference on how it handles turns and curvy roads. The Atlas Cross Sport’s lower center of gravity, wider wheelbase and greater length create stability and agility, adding fun and confidence to any trip with your family inside. The increased height of the Passport (+112 mm) combined with its narrower wheelbase (-163 mm) may cause the Pilot to feel top-heavy, clunky, and less stable around tight turns.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport understands one size doesn’t fit all

The Atlas Cross Sport features two engines. The Trendline and Comfortline include a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Execline and Comfortline (optional) trims feature a 3.6L six-cylinder engine that outputs 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.

The Honda Passport includes a 3.5L six-cylinder that produces virtually the same horsepower (280), but less torque. The Atlas Cross Sport offers more engine options that suit more tastes that compete with or exceed what the Passport offers.

All Atlas Cross Sport trims also include the popular 4MOTION AWD, an eight-speed automatic transmission, a start/stop system with regenerative braking, Driving Profile Selection and electronic parking brake.

The Atlas Cross Sport offers an impressive line of interior features, including more rear legroom than the Pilot.
